Light Squared Is A New (Open) Wireless Network

I have never even heard of this company until recently reading an article about the next generation wireless network. Light Squared is in the process of building a 4G-LTE open wireless broadband network in the US with Nokia Siemens. In their press release they state that they have signed an 8 year, $7 billion dollar agreement with Nokia Siemens to deploy, install, operated and maintain Light Squared’s wireless network. This network will be deployed to 92% of the US by 2015. So how will this network overshadow its competitors?

Dell Takes Another PR Hit With Malware-Infected Motherboards

When a company is reeling from repeated instances of bad publicity and embarrassing missteps, even the littlest issues get magnified and snowball into what media members and analysts like to term as a "slump or, even worse, a "decline."

I think it's safe to say that Dell is currently a perfect example of this. The formerly dominant computer maker, which was once the envy of HP and Compaq and the arch-enemy of the channel, has been slammed with quite a bit of bad press lately (an SEC investigation and settlement, allegations over shipping knowingly defective systems, and embarrassing disclosures about Dell's relationship with Intel) . And it seems to be only getting worse; Dell last week disclosed that it had unknowingly shipped malware-infected motherboards. Even though Dell acted quickly in this case, it stands out as another major blemish for a hardware company that once prided itself on quality and customer service.
