Re: Five Reasons Mozilla Firefox 3.5 Rocks

While speed is important, the number one criterion for a browser needs to be standards -- a fast browser isn't useful if it can't display pages, and standards are the only way to reliably create pages that work cross browser.

IE compatibility used to be important, but with Microsoft emphasis on standards for IE 8, standard support is clearly the main path.  (And Mozilla experience following and supporting standards.)

Re: Five Reasons Mozilla Firefox 3.5 Rocks

First off, I'm not a Firefox hater. I think it's a great browser and am currently testing 3.5. With that said, I'm an avid Chrome user. Chrome is not without it's faults, but it keeps getting better. This article failed to mention in its first point that although FF 3.5 is fast, it still hasn't beat Chrome in speed. It also failed to mention that the upgrade in the "awesome bar" becoming a google search is actually feature borrowed from Chrome. Now, Chrome has borrowed from FF and I hope they continue to borrow from each other and bring us great browsers, but I'll be hard pressed to move away from Chrome totally as I love its speed, its ability to act like an OS with a task manager to manage invidual tap functions, and its non-bloated look. I do think Chrome could learn something from FF 3.5's private browsing and update their Incognito Window and Chrome desparately needs to fix the feature where you can assign certain file types to be handled by certain apps - but Chrome is clean, fast, secure and has an avid community and development team eager to push it forward. I'm trying FF 3.5 - I'd suggest some FF users delving into Chrome and comparing the two.
