Microsoft Exec Backs Off Windows 7 'Hack' Comment

A Microsoft executive who last week appeared to refer to bloggers advocating illegal Windows 7 upgrades as 'hacks' now says his comments were misunderstood. Read the full article at Channelweb via http://www.crn.com/software/221500019.

No worries.. its kinda funny how desperate Appletards are trying to get to make a mountain out of anything..

They try to make something of an offhand comment.

They try to spam the we searches to stop people looking up windows 7

They try to push their phony commercials.

Keep it up appletards, we all need the laughs

WTF over?  Absolutely nothing about Apple in the article...must be another paranoid Windows watcher trying to keep his virus trap from crashing...

It does amaze me how the first reply to this post is to attack apple users. As a GNU/Linux user I have finally arrived at the conclusion people who

use Windows software do so for several reasons but it is their choice or at least one would hope it is their choice. I my self believe I have a right to

know what I am installing on my machine and if I want to do a new full install thats my business. I would like to say that all those adds that say I am

responcable for Windows 7 are interesting because the new desktop does look a lot like KDE so to all you folks out there who think your input is inportant

take a look at GNU/Linux or any of the flavors of FreeBSD Unix and you too could contribute because that is what it is all about. Remember it's Free as in Freedom of Speach not free as in free beer although it is free. Download some GNU/Linux or FreeBSD Unix and try it I did 12 years ago and I have found it

to be an excellent way to Operate!

http://community.crn.com/people/jabberwolfJabberwolf, did you even read the article? It has to do with Microsoft not being responsive to users and users coming up with work around that may violate Microsoft's license policy. It appears you do not have the time to read the article as it has nothing to do with Apple. It is not even an article that I would expect any fanboy's MS, Apple, Open Source to flame on other than MS seems to be insensitive to end users, no story there.

I see you have only joined yesterday to comment on 2 Apple articles and this article, if you don't like Apple don't buy their products, your choice. If you don't like MS don't buy their products. If you can create better products then either company and sell them do so, only beware someone might not like how you control your product and flame on you. Better yet, get the chip off your shoulder and get a life.

Unsure why Microsoft would not allow "upgrading" but using a fresh install. When I put a fresh install of Vista on my computer, I had an upgrade from Acrobat 5 to Acrobat 8. Run the install. Insert Acrobat 8 serial number. Insert Acrobat 5 serial number. Use Acrobat a few things I left out here.

Why can't Microsoft do the following for fresh install "upgrades": Begin Win 7 install. Insert Win 7 upgrade serial number. Insert XP/Vista serial number and continue. Somewhere on a server at Microsoft, the XP/Vista serial number is marked off so it can't be used further for a fresh install.

I dislike upgrading one OS over another. too many issues could occur.

As a Microsoft partner I can attest to the fact that in working with Eric over several years that no one has done a better job of communicating to the channel what is or isn't required by Microsoft Licensing.  We may not exactly like all the details of their licensing but Eric has always been available to hear our complaints and address them head on.  One comment wouldn't allow me to negatively distract from Eric's fine reputation as helping all of us out in the field.

Regarding the Linux comment, when Linux can support Visual Studio, a quality office suite, driver support that doesn't require me to program anything, Adobe's Reader, Writer, Fireworks, and Photoshop, I'll use it.  In other words, when apps are supported I'll consider it.
