The Windows 7 upgrade dustup between Microsoft and some of its biggest proponents is a classic case of an issue that could have been avoided, or at least mitigated, through better communication. Read the full article at Channelweb via http://www.crn.com/software/221600342.
Once again, a great article from Kevin M. But, I'm curious, would any VARs or IT Pros out there do a clean install with upgrade media? Espcially since there is no clean upgrade path from XP to Win7. If you would, why?
Of course we do clean installs using upgrade media. We can do a clean install in less than 30 minutes. An in-place upgrade, if it works at all, can take over 24 HOURS (no exaggeration!). So we can pull all user info off a system, reinstall, and restore the user files in about 30 minutes. And - it runs quicker than an upgrade ...

Well, I know a lot of people who installed and used boot-leg copies of Windows and Office for work and home. I even know companies today who complain about me installing a legit OEM copy of Windows XP instead of "Just use the CD we have in the office".
