I did purchase a copy of Windows 7. I don't think it is necessary to upgrade Vista. Most users on XP will probably want to upgrade the hardware to a 64 Bit platform and I wouldn't do anything less than 4 Gig of memory. There are some very nice improvements to several of the system tools such as Resource Manager. So far I have to say my experience has been positive. It is looking more and more like Linux.
